The ARIES-AcSIR Science Club celebrated National Technology Day on May 11, 2026, highlighting the vital role of technology in scientific discovery. National Technology Day is celebrated every year on 11th May in India to recognize the contributions of scientists, engineers, and researchers toward technological and scientific development. The event focused on the critical importance of technology in astronomy, astrophysics, atmospheric research, and everyday life.

Inauguration and Keynote Insights

• The program began with an inaugural address by the Director of ARIES, Dr. Manish Naja, who highlighted the significance of National Technology Day and the overarching role of technology in scientific progress.
• Dr. Brijesh Kumar and Dr. J. C. Pandey provided a brief overview on the importance of astronomical observations, scientific advancement, and the growing role of technology in research and everyday life.

Technical Session Highlights

Our expert speakers shared deep dives into the engineering powering our research. The dedicated technical sessions included:

• Dr. Tarun Bangia: Presented a session on the integration of mechanical technologies in astrophysics and atmospheric facilities at ARIES.
• Dr. T. S. Kumar: Explained the motion control technologies used in modern telescopes for accurate movement and tracking.
• Dr. Krishna Reddy: Discussed optical technological advancements and instrumentation used in ARIES facilities.
• Dr. Samaresh Bhattacharyya: Delivered a talk on technological innovations and instrumentation related to atmospheric physics and research.

Conclusion

The program concluded with a high-energy and interactive Quiz Competition for PhD scholars and postdoctoral researchers, making the event highly informative and engaging for the participants. This was followed by a prize distribution ceremony.
