AcSIR Foundation Day is marked on 6th April, signifying the establishment of the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research as a premier institution for advanced scientific research and education in India. The Foundation Day of AcSIR was celebrated by the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), an academic centre of AcSIR, with great enthusiasm and academic spirit, commemorating the occasion.

AcSIR arranged an influential lecture by Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki (IIT Bombay) on “Is Ever-Growing Consumption on a Finite Earth Possible?”. Many researchers and scientists from ARIES attended the thought-provoking lecture conducted by AcSIR.

Key Insights from the Lecture

Prof. Solanki pointed out that conventional approaches—such as tree plantation, policy making, and economic development alone—are insufficient to address climate change. Instead, he emphasized that:

• Reducing individual consumption is essential.
• Adopting methods like TUPEE and AMG is vital for a sustainable long-term solution.

The event highlighted the importance of moving beyond traditional methods and adopting sustainable practices at both institutional and individual levels, inspiring participants to contribute more responsibly towards addressing climate change.
